This is the list of the Japanese grammar rules needed to study for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N4.

1. ~し (~shi) : and; and what’s more

2. そうに / そうな (sou ni / sou na) : seem; look like

3. そうです (sou desu) : Looks; seems…

4. てみる (te miru) : try to (do something)

5. たら (tara) : if… then; after; when

6. なら (nara): if; if it is the case that

7. たがる (ta garu) : want to

8. しか~ない (shika~nai) : only; nothing but

9. ておきます (te okimasu) : What to do first…

10. と思う (to omou) : to think…; I think…

11. つもりです (tsumori desu) : Will; intend to do…

20. はずです (hazu desu) : must; Definitely

21. ば (ba) : if… then (ば conditional)

22. だけで (dake de) : just by; just by doing

23. いたす (itasu) : to do (the polite form of する)

24. じゃないか (janai ka) : right?; isn’t it?

25. てある (te aru) : something is done

26. にくい (nikui) : difficult to…; hard to…

29. ことにする (koto ni suru) : decide to
