is a way of expressing subjective speculation, based on information that the speaker receives with his or her senses.
How to use:
Verb-casual + ようだ
いadj + ようだ
なadj + なようだ
Noun + のようだ
Example sentences:
1. 山沿いでは雪になるよう。
yama-zoide wa yuki ni naru yō.
There will probably be snow in the mountainside areas.
2. どうやら、僕も時代におくれているようだな。
dou yara, boku mo jidai ni okurete iru you da na.
I guess I’m a bit behind the times!
3. 彼は何かを推し測っているようだった。
kare wa nanika o oshihakatte iru you datta.
He seemed to be drawing his own conclusions.
4. 彼はとてもご機嫌がよかったようでした。
kare wa totemo gokigen ga yokatta you deshita.
He seemed in good spirits.
