Meaning: to do something by accident; to finish doing something completely
How to use:
Verb-てform + しまう
Verb-てform (-て) + ちゃう
Verb-てform (-て) + じゃう
Explain:
Expressing the state of complete completion of the movement Used to express regret
Example sentences:
1. この宿題をしてしまったら、遊びにいける。
Kono shukudai o shite shimattara, asobi ni ikeru.
After completing this exercise, you can go play
2. 雨の中を歩いて、風邪をひいてしまった。
Ame no naka o aruite, kaze o hiite shimatta.
Because I was walking in the rain, I caught a cold
3. 電車の中にかさを忘れて来てしまった。
Densha no naka ni kasa o wasurete kite shimatta.
I forgot my umbrella in the tram
4. 知ってはいけないことを知ってしまった。
Shitte wa ikenai koto o shitte shimatta.
I missed knowing things that were not supposed to be known.
5. 彼は、友達に嫌われてしまったと言う。
Kare wa, tomodachi ni kirawa rete shimatta to iu.
Heard he was hated by his friends.
