Explain:
Expression of exceeding the allowable limit of a behavior or a state. Therefore, usually the sentence pattern often talks about bad things
How to use:
Verb-ます stem + すぎる
いadjective (remove い) + すぎる
なadjective + すぎる
Example sentences:
1. 太郎、遊びすぎですよ。
tarō, asobi-sugidesu yo.
Taro, you play too much.
2. 夕べ刺身をたべすぎました。
yūbe sashimi o tabe sugimashita.
Last night I ate too much sashimi
3. テレビの見すぎで成績が下がってしまった。
terebi no mi-sugi de seiseki ga sagatte shimatta.
My grades went down because I watched too much TV.
4. 飲みすぎにはこの薬がいいそうだ。
nomi-sugi ni wa kono kusuri ga ī-sōda.
It is said that this drug is very effective when drinking too much.
5. それについて話をするのはまだ早すぎる。
sore ni tsuite hanashi o suru no wa mada haya sugiru.
It’s too soon to talk about that.
