Particle	Romaji	Meaning	Example (JP)	Romaji	English
は	wa	Topic marker	今日はいい天気です。	Kyou wa ii tenki desu.	The weather today is nice.
が	ga	Subject marker	犬が好きです。	Inu ga suki desu.	I like dogs.
を	o / wo	Object marker	映画を見ます。	Eiga o mimasu.	I watch a movie.
に	ni	Place, time, or direction marker	買い物に行きます。	Kaimono ni ikimasu.	I will go shopping.
で	de	Location or method marker	レストランで食べます。	Resutoran de tabemasu.	I will eat at the restaurant.
へ	e	Direction marker	公園へ散歩します。	Kouen e sanpo shimasu.	I will take a walk to the park.
と	to	And / with, quotation marker	パンと卵を買いました。	Pan to tamago o kaimashita.	I bought bread and eggs.
も	mo	Also / too	私も行きます。	Watashi mo ikimasu.	I will go too.
から	kara	From / because / starting point	9時から仕事です。	Ku ji kara shigoto desu.	I have work from 9 o’clock.
まで	made	Until / to / ending point	午後6時まで働きます。	Gogo 6ji made hatarakimasu.	I will work until 6 pm.
や	ya	And / and others (non-exhaustive list)	パンや卵を買いました。	Pan ya tamago o kaimashita.	I bought bread, eggs, and other things.
か	ka	Question marker	どこから来ましたか？	Doko kara kimashita ka?	Where did you come from?
ね	ne	Isn’t it?, right?, asking confirmation	いい天気ですね。	Ii tenki desu ne.	It’s nice weather, isn’t it?
よ	yo	Emphasis / assertion	この映画は面白いですよ。	Kono eiga wa omoshiroi desu yo.	This movie is interesting, you know.
くらい	kurai	About / around / to the extent of	私は１時間くらい歩きました。	Watashi wa 1jikan kurai arukimashita.	I walked for about an hour.
だけ	dake	Only / just / limitation	本だけ読みました。	Hon dake yomimashita.	I read only books.
など	nado	And others / etc. (with ya)	パンや卵などを買いました。	Pan ya tamago nado o kaimashita.	I bought bread, eggs, and other things.
